Insurance

I just found out that I do not have to get new homeowners or car insurance!!!!!!!!!!!

Our insurance is through USAA, since my husband was in the service, and their prices are amazing and their service is out of this world exceptional, and I am so incredibly happy and releaved and tearful that I don't have to find another insurance... I am so happy I teared up.

*happy sigh*

I was stressing so much about it. I was afraid to call because I didn't want to hear bad news.

  1. Congrats!

Am just curious, do you still need to refinance to get his name off the title? That's an ordeal (at least here).

  2. I have USAA too because my dad was in the service. The beautiful thing about USAA is once you are in, you are in.

    I LOVE them too :)

  3. Oh - speaking of paperwork (sort-of), please de-list him as the beneficiary of your life insurance. Also, his pension should be a significant asset your atty should know about. Not because you should want it, but because it should give him less reason to claim stuff from you.

Am just trying to round up all "paperworky" thoughts at once. Good luck!

  4. He's not on the mortgage, just on the title. I added him when we got married because I wanted to show him how much I loved him and had faith in our marriage.
Jim - yeah... I am going to (about the life insurance). sigh.

And he doesn't get a pension. he wasn't in the service 20 years (he's only 28! lol) .. He does get disability income but I don't want that. I want nothing of his ever again. thanks for the ideas though, keep 'em coming!!! and i'll be sure to tell my lawyer that he gets that.

  5. "He does get disability income but I don't want that. I want nothing of his ever again."

    The right answer :D

What you want is for him to be as "affluent" as possible on his own feet so you can just be free. You don't want his stuff; you want your stuff. But you knew this.

I want to go into this more, but it's hard in this format. I respect your position, but do you have an e-mail address that you're comfortable sharing? I promise I have nothing "weird" to share. I'll check back.
